Honest Review of Hermès Chypre Sandals

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

...and, I am back with another review!!

As spring/summer is approaching, I wanted to add a comfortable sandal to my collection. After searching for many, many, many months I was able to score the Hermès black Chypre sandal with fur.

The Chypre sandal comes in many different colors and leather options but we will talk about that in a bit.

I have not always been a fan of this model because I was afraid it would make my feet look wider or that I couldn't pull of the masculine look but after seeing it everywhere on social media and on the streets of NYC, I have admittedly become obsessed. Maybe a little too obsessed...

Let's talk about price, quality, functionality & more.

𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭:

The version with fur currently retails for $830 plus tax.

However, the one without fur retails for $680 plus tax.

𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:

It is undoubtedly my most comfortable sandals to date. The reason why I searched for specifically the model with fur for so long is that I wanted to be able to wear it not only in summer but also during spring/fall with thick socks. Wearing it in multiple different ways really does justify the price of this sandal for me.

𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫:

The Chypre sandal currently comes in black, beige, brown, white and blue. However, with different seasons the colors vary. The sandal also comes in different leathers depending on the season such as calfskin, woolskin and suede.

𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐞:

The website recommends purchasing one size up from your usual size. However, because this model comes with fur and adjustable strap, in my experience I was able to purchase it in my usual size, which is 37.

In comparison to the version without fur, size 37 was too small for me. So if you're searching for the one without fur, I would recommend sizing up half or even a full size from your usual size.

In case you already own a pair of Oran sandals, keep in mind that the wear of Chypre without fur is similar to the fit of Oran sandals.

𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐫:

I have not purchased this shoe long enough to really comment on wear but I can see it lasting a long time especially because the sole is rubber.

I will make another review once summer passes as I plan on wearing this sandal very often.

𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:

Finding the Chypre sandal in any boutique is quite difficult as the demand is very high and a lot of costumers have already been wish listing it since last spring.

I was told the Chypre sandal is now a part of the classic collection so I am hoping it will be easier to find in the future but currently, it is out of stock on the website.

Occasionally a few sizes will pop up here and there. To be able to score this sandal online, you really need to be checking the website every few hours.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞:

You can directly purchase it at your local boutique or find a pair online.

I would recommend trying a boutique first as the experience of shopping at Hermès in person is truly wonderful and it would be best if tried on before purchasing.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Chypre sandals is one of the hottest items for Spring/Summer at the moment. They're not only super comfortable but also very stylish & edgy.

You can wear it with socks or by itself. You can wear it during summer or spring/fall. You can wear it at the beach, a day in the city or grocery shopping on a relaxed Sunday!

I love this pair so much that I am a little crazy to want it in every color and leather.

The only downside is, it is pretty difficult to find but don't give up!! It is possible. :-)

You can also search for it on various preloved websites, but keep in mind the price for this shoe on the second hand market is pretty crazy. I've seen it be sold for over twice retail.

What are your thoughts on the Chypre sandal? Do you already own a pair? Share with me below!!
